Claim Payment and Remittance

Thank you for helping Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) GO GREEN and your interest in BCBSMT's Electronic Claim, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and Electronic Remittance Advise (ERA) submissions.

In order to streamline this process and ensure compliance with the electronic requirements, HeW will manage the collection of paperwork for ERA (835s) and EFT. There is no paperwork needed to submit your BCBSMT claims electronically, just provide the information outlined under the, “How do I sign up for Electronic BCBSMT Claim Submission?” HeW in turn will coordinate with BCBSMT to ensure a smooth transition to going paperless.

How do I sign up for Electronic BCBSMT Claims Submission?

If you are not already submitting your BCBSMT claims through a Clearinghouse and would like to submit your BCBSMT claims electronically through HeW, do the following:

Send an email to hewsupport@availity.com or contact the HeW Support Center at 877-565-5457, option 1, providing them with the following information:

  • Organization Name
  • Organization Physical Address including the 9 digit zip code
  • Contact Name
  • Contact Phone Number
  • Contact Email Address
  • Billing Provider Name, NPI and Tax ID (group or individual provider information)
  • Rendering Provider Name, NPI and Tax ID

How do I sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)?

To be eligible to receive EFT, you must:

  • Submit electronic claims (837s)
  • Receive QNXT electronic remittance advice (835s)
  • Be ready to have paper Provider Claims Registers (PCRs) discontinued. PCRs are still available on line.

BCBSMT EFT’s enrollment process:

  • Fill out the BCBSMT EFT enrollment form at Montana – Payer EDI Enrollment  
  • Fax the completed enrollment form to HeW at, 406-449-0190 or via email, hewsupport@availity.com
  • HeW will add the provider’s NPI’s and Tax ID information to their provider database
  • HeW will forward the completed form over to BCBSMT to be setup by E-Commerce
  • Clients can contact E-Commerce at 800-746-4614 to follow-up to see if their enrollment process is complete

Please note: EFT is not available from claims processed in LRSP, BCBSMT's legacy processing system. LRSP Provider claim registers and checks will continue to be sent as they are today.

How do I sign up for Electronic Remittance Advise (ERA)

BCBSMT Electronic Remittance Advise enrollment process:

  • Fill out the BCBSMT ERA enrollment form at Montana – Payer EDI Enrollment 
  • Fax the completed enrollment form to HeW at, 406-449-0190 or via email, hewsupport@availity.com
  • HeW will add the provider’s NPI’s and Tax ID information to their provider database
  • HeW will forward the completed forms over to BCBSMT to be setup by E-Commerce
  • Clients can contact E-Commerce at 800-746-4614 to follow-up to see if their enrollment process is complete
